The late Dr Nichola Davis was a much-loved GP and respected medico-legal advisor for the Medical Indemnity Protection Society. Now we’re honouring her legacy with a scholarship at the University of Queensland supporting financially disadvantaged medical students from rural or remote areas.

When is the fundraising period?

The fundraising period starts at 12.01am AEST on 29 September 2024 and ends at 11.59pm AEST 10 November 2024.

Where will my donation go?

All funds collected, including the matched funds, will be attributed to the Dr Nichola Davis Scholarship at The University of Queensland.

How will MIPS match my donation?

MIPS will match qualifying donations raised dollar-for-dollar during the fundraising period up to a maximum amount of $20,000 AUD total (“matched funds”).

The matched funds will be provided by MIPS and will be transferred to The University of Queensland before 13 December 2024. 

How do I donate?

Donations must be made through the Dr Nichola Davis Scholarship ‘JustGiving’ page, which can be accessed here.

Is the donation page secure?

Donating through the JustGiving’ website is easy, safe and secure:

Will I receive a receipt?

As soon as you make your donation, ‘JustGiving’ will automatically send a donation receipt to the email you've provided.

If you haven't received a receipt, there's a possibility your email account has automatically treated it as spam, so it's worth checking your spam folder to see if it's in there.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Donations made through the ‘JustGiving’ page will be paid directly to The University of Queensland.

Once you have made your donation, you will receive a taxation receipt for your donation issued by ‘JustGiving’, on behalf of The University of Queensland which should be retained by you for taxation purposes.

I need to speak to someone about my donation, how can I get in touch?

If you experience any issues processing your donation, please call The University of Queensland’s Advancement and Community Engagement team on 07 3346 3909 and their team members will be happy to assist.

What is the refund policy? Can I get a refund if I entered the incorrect amount?

Please get in touch with The University of Queensland (phone number 07 3346 3909), and explain that you'd like a refund. If The University of Queensland is happy to refund, they will contact the 'JustGiving' support team on your behalf. Once confirmed, your refund will be processed. Please note that refunds can take between 5-10 working days to process.

Please be aware that ‘JustGiving’ can only refund donations made via Debit/Credit card, PayPal, or Google/Apple pay. They also cannot refund donations made over 6 months ago, these will need to be refunded by The University of Queensland directly.

Terms and Conditions for Donors of the Dr Nichola Davis Fundraising Campaign

Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern the fundraising activities conducted by Medical Indemnity Protection Society Ltd (“Organiser”) on behalf of The University of Queensland (“Organisation”) for the Dr Nichola Davis Medical Scholarship (“Fundraiser”).

By donating to the Fundraiser, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

 

  1. Fundraising Purpose

    The Organiser is raising funds on behalf of the Organisation to support the Dr Nichola Davis Medical Scholarship (“Scholarship”).

    The Organisation has Deductible Gift Recipient (“DGR”) status.

  2. Fundraiser Dates

    The Fundraiser will commence at 12.01am AEST on 29 September 2024 and end at 11.59pm AEST 10 November 2024 (“Fundraiser Period”).

  3. Donation Matching

    The Organiser will match donations raised dollar-for-dollar during the Fundraiser Period up to a maximum amount of $20,000 AUD total (“Matched Funds”).

    The Matched Funds will be provided by the Organiser and will be transferred to the Organisation before 13 December 2024.

  4. Donation Process

    Donations must be made through the Fundraiser ‘JustGiving’ page, which can be accessed here. No other forms of donations will be accepted.

    Donations made through the ‘JustGiving’ page will be paid directly to the Organisation.

    Donors will receive a taxation receipt for their donation issued by ‘JustGiving’, which should be retained by the Donor for taxation purposes.

  5. Use of Donations

    All funds collected by the Fundraiser, including Matched Funds, will be attributed to the Scholarship.

    The Organisation will provide transparency on how the funds are utilised. Information about the Scholarship can be found at https://scholarships.uq.edu.au/scholarship/dr-nichola-davis-scholarship as updated by the Organisation from time to time.

  6. Donor Information Donor information will be collected during the Fundraiser for the purpose of collecting and administering your gift. The Organisation will also use this information to keep in touch with you regarding the impact of your donation, appeals, events and other engagement opportunities.
  7. Transparency and Accountability UQ will maintain records of all donations received via the Just Giving platform in our database of record.
  8. Limitation of Liability The Organiser and the Organisation will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from the fundraising activities, except where required by law.
  9. Amendments The Organiser reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be communicated via the Organiser’s website.
  10. Governing Law These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
